Day 14
I was catching the 1:15 ferry from Scrabster to Orkney so I had time to wander round Thurso. I called in on the bike shop to thank the owner for sorting my bike out. He said he'd talked with a friend who said if I'd wrapped string around the tyre it might have held for longer. I had some rope with me ...
It was quite windy with a bit of swell. Walking about on deck was fun. One minute this was the view,
soon to change to this.
We passed the Old Man of Hoy sea stack.
The sea was a lovely green as we approached Stromness, but chilly in the northerly wind.
Tonight I have a triple room in a hostel to myself. This is the view from beside the hostel.
Stromness is delightful with narrow passage ways and a narrow road through that is used by cars and pedestrians.
I spotted an embroidery shop that I thought might be able to mend my tent. The owner send me round to her partner who runs a sports equipment shop. I've left it with him to see what he can do.Stromness shops close early and there are limited options for food. So tonight it was Thai green curry from the Chinese takeaway with enough left for breakfast in the morning!
